Registration Fee

A one-time non-refundable registration fee of $24.95 is required for lesson registration to reserve your time slot.

Once registered, students receive 10% off any product in our stores up to $100 off the price (this cannot be combined with any other offer). A West Music messenger bag is also given to each student to help organize their materials.

Tuition

Lesson rates vary by teacher. In general, West Music charges between $90 – $130 a month for weekly half-hour lessons. Lessons are auto billed on the first of the month with either a credit card or ACH.

Instrument Requirements

To get the most out of their lessons, students will need an instrument to practice at home. In many cases, we can offer affordable options for purchasing an instrument, including a rent-to-own program on most band and orchestra instruments. Our staff will also be happy to evaluate any instrument you currently own to see if it is in good working order.

TeacherZone

TeacherZone is an online tool for teachers, parents, and students to communicate and continue learning. After registering, you will be given a login to access TeacherZone from your home computer or smart device.

  • TeacherZone is a great tool for scheduling lessons. You can always get NOTIFICATIONS about lesson reminders, no-shows, and when the teacher is absent.
  • TeacherZone also creates a platform for all content for lessons. Your teacher will house videos, curriculum, and lesson content to help your student LEARN outside of their lesson time.
  • COMMUNICATION is now easier than ever as you can send messages to your teacher through TeacherZone.
Waiting Areas
West Music provides comfortable waiting areas for parents and families. Free Wi-Fi is available at all locations.
Teacher Vetting

Before teachers may become employees of West Music, all resumes are reviewed for the specialties and skills they possess as a teacher and musician. Interviews, mock lessons, and sample performances allow us to thoroughly know each teacher. Background checks are also obtained for the safety of our students.

Recitals
Recital and performance opportunities are available but are not required to participate in lessons.
Missed Lessons & Weather Cancellations

There will be no make-up or refunds for lessons. Due to schedules accommodating other students, our teachers will be unable to reschedule or provide “make-up” lessons for any missed lessons. Inability to attend a lesson on a student’s part does not excuse tuition payment.

Students may cancel lessons at any time, but they will be required to provide a 30-day notice to do so. The 30-day notice must be sent to the store manager or studio coordinator. Partial refunds will not be given for any remaining lessons if the student chooses not to finish out the 30 days.

Weather Cancelations

West Music stores will announce any weather cancelations through Facebook and TeacherZone.

Lesson Make-ups for Teacher Cancellations

Teachers will communicate any lesson cancellations beforehand through TeacherZone, and we will bank any lesson to use at a later time. Teachers have 30 days to make up the lesson that they canceled. If a teacher cannot schedule a make-up within this time, we will attempt to accommodate a substitute teacher, or teacher can elect to use one of their time off allotments, or the students will be refunded for the missed lesson on the 1st of the month following 30-day period.

Summer Break Policy

SUMMER BREAK POLICY:
Students can choose to take a break for summer lessons and can avoid paying the lesson registration fee if they resume within 120 days. If a family is interested in maintaining their student’s same lesson time for the fall, they can elect to pay $10/month to reserve their time. If a student does not want to pay the summer reserve fee, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule for the fall based on a first-come, first-served basis.

To request a temporary break for summer vacation, please contact a store manager or studio coordinator. You may also complete this Online Form. You must provide a 30-day notification before leaving the lessons program. Partial refunds will not be given for any remaining lessons if the student chooses to not finish out the 30 days.

Leaving the Lessons Program

LESSON CANCELATION POLICY:
Students may leave the lesson program at any time, but they will be required to provide a 30-day notice to do so. The 30-day notice must be sent to the store manager or studio coordinator. You may also complete this Online Form as your 30-day notification to West Music. Partial refunds will not be given for any remaining lessons if the student chooses to not finish out the 30 days.
